Structural Design and Analysis
Armstrong Aerospace has in-house aircraft structural engineers with more than 20
years of experience providing the design and analyses requisite to maintain aircraft
airworthiness. Concurrent with the design process, engineers identify the loads,
determine the resultant stresses, and evaluate the static and fatigue impact on
the designed structure. Our engineers also work closely with
the aircraft owner, modifier, and/or installer to develop a rigorous, cost-effective
design, as well as timely FAA approval. Armstrong also has extensive electrical
design and analysis capabilities including, pin-to-pin and harness design, wire
diagram development, and electrical load analysis.
Wireless Testing Capabilities
Armstrong Aerospace specializes in the testing of wireless technologies specifically
used onboard commercial aircraft. The team of engineers have successfully developed
and implemented Wi-Fi and T-PED testing plans to address aircraft susceptibility
to and compatibility with 802.11, GSM and various other frequencies at several power
levels. The team has also successfully measured and mapped wireless signal strength
in several aircraft cabins to determine the ideal placement of wireless access points.
Aerodynamics Loads Analysis on Large Radomes
We have worked very closely with industry experts and the FAA in
the CFD analysis of large Radomes on B737, B757, B767, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.
The analysis includes assessing the impact of the radome on pressure and Mach number
distributions, shock strength and location, boundary layer conditions and streamlines.
This analysis has produced an FAA accepted methodology that complies with the relevant
FAA Issue Papers for Large Radome Installations via a combination of analytical
methods and flight test procedures.
